Greatest Rappers of all time

So who is the greatest rapper when it comes delivering the lyrics? There have been hundreds and thousand of rappers that have come and gone. But there were handful who really made the difference.
This isn’t who has made the best video or just come with crap lyrics like I’ve got whores in different area code. This is about who was The Daddy in the Rap industry. If you are a fan of Kanye West or Lil Wayne you will be disappointed. This is about serious rapping. This about rappers who have made the impact through out the world. And rappers who were revolutionist.

This my Top 10:

10:
Dre
You may be surprised what is doing  dre in the top 10. Well Dre has been there with best from the start. With Pac and snoop dog to eminem and fiddy.
Dr. Dre, is an American record producer, rapper, record executive, and actor. He is the founder and current CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and a former co-owner and artist of Death Row Records, also having produced albums for and overseeing the careers of many rappers signed to those record labels, such as Snoop Dogg, Eminem and 50 Cent. As a producer he is credited as a key figure in the popularization of West Coast G-funk, a style of rap music characterized as synthesizer-based with slow, heavy beats.

Dr. Dre began his career in music as a member of the World Class Wreckin' Cru and he later found fame with the influential gangsta rap group N.W.A with Eazy-E and Ice Cube which popularized the use of explicit lyrics in rap to detail the violence of street life. His 1992 solo debut, The Chronic, released under Death Row Records, led him to become one of the best-selling American performing artists of 1993 and to win a Grammy Award for the single "Let Me Ride". In 1996, he left Death Row to establish his own label, Aftermath Entertainment. Under that label, he produced a compilation album titled Dr. Dre Presents the Aftermath in 1996, and released a solo album titled 2001 in 1999, for which he won the Grammy producer's award the next year.
During the 2000s, he focused his career on production for other artists, while occasionally contributing vocals to other artists' songs. Dr. Dre signed Eminem and 50 Cent to his record label in 1996 and 2003 respectively while contributing production on their albums. They have both gone on to become some of the biggest names in hip hop in the 2000s

9:
50 Cent (32 pence In English currency)
50 Cent: Curtis James Jackson III, a.k.a. 50 Cent, rose to fame after releasing Get Rich or Die Tryin' and The Massacre. The first album has gone 8 times platinum and sold more than 15 millions copies across the world. The second album has gone 5 times platinum and sold over 11 million copies across the world. Although, he has had a rocky start to his life and career, 50 Cent will always be counted as one of those who know their music.

After releasing his album Guess Who's Back? in 2002, Jackson was discovered by rapper Eminem and signed to Interscope Records. With the help of Eminem and Dr. Dre, who produced his first major commercial successes, Jackson became one of the world's highest selling rappers. In 2003, he founded the record label G-Unit Records, which signed several successful rappers such as Young Buck, Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo. 50 Cent was ranked as the 6th best artist of the 2000-2009 decade by Billboard magazine. The magazine also ranked him as the 4th Top male artist and as the 3rd Top rapper behind Eminem and Nelly   Jackson has engaged in feuds with other rappers including Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Cam'ron, Rick Ross, and former G-Unit members The Game and Young Buck

8:
Llcool j
Becoming the first artist ever signed to Def Jam, LL Cool J has held down the Hip Hop scene for 20 years now.  Releasing 11 gold and platinum albums, no other artist has been more consistent.  His landmark album "Mama Said Knock You Out" changed LL's persona and unleashed a rage in his rhymes that would continue for the next ten years.

Becoming an elder statesman for Hip Hop, LL cut out the profanity from his lyrics, a request his grandmother made before she died.  LL has endured many battles, most commonly with Kool Moe Dee.  As LL has proved, though he may never be beat in a battle, there is always room for the ladies.

7:
Shaun Carter (Jay-Z)

Better known by his stage name Jay-Z, is an American rapper and businessman. He is one of the most financially successful hip hop artists and entrepreneurs in America having had a net worth of over $450 million in 2010. He has sold approximately 50 million albums worldwide,  while receiving ten Grammy Awards for his musical work, and numerous additional nominations.
Jay-Z co-owns The 40/40 Club, is part-owner of the NBA's New Jersey Nets and is also the creator of the clothing line Rocawear. He is the former CEO of Def Jam Recordings, one of the three founders of Roc-A-Fella Records, and the founder of Roc Nation. As an artist, he holds the record for most number one albums by a solo artist on the Billboard 200. Jay-Z also has had four number ones on the Billboard Hot 100, one as lead artist.

He released his debut album Reasonable Doubt in the mid-90’s, and has since been nearly untouchable. It seems like everything Jay-Z touches sells, whether it be his albums or even his own clothing line. He has released one classic in Reasonable Doubt, and another possible one in The Blueprint. Most of his other albums are good aswell, with just a few exceptions that don’t even deserve to get mentioned in this. In 2003, Jay-Z supposedly ended his saga in rap with The Black Album, a hugely successful CD that bared not one, not two, but six chart topping singles. Sounds like a pretty good way to end a career. has been the most consistently excellent MC in the game, and it seems like he's at his apex every year. He is one of only a handful of MCs whose flow is so potent that his tongue can effortlessly glide over any track and still destroy a verse with line-for-line firepower.
Jay-Z will always be remembered as one of the icons of rap.

6:
Ice cube
He began his career as a member of C.I.A and later joined the rap group N.W.A. After leaving N.W.A in 1989, he built a successful solo career in music, and also as a writer, director, actor and producer in cinema

Ice Cube-  One of the founding fathers of Gangsta Rap, and part of one of the most influential rap groups of all-time.  NWA were the leaders of the Gangsta Rap movement and West Coast rap in the late 80′s.  Prior to the rise of NWA, the West Coast was never really respected in the rap game.  These guys gave real credibility to the “Left Coast.”  Ice Cube was the leader of the group.  Cube, was the lead rapper, and wrote the majority of the songs.  He even wrote the Eazy-E classic track “Boyz N Tha Hood.”  NWA never recovered after Cube departed.  Cube went on to be one of the most successful solo acts and released 9 solo records.  Cube would still land top five for his solo work in the early 90s. Jetting to New York after helping to define the West Coast sound, he got with the Bomb Squad and mixed the personal with the political in larger doses than had ever been witnessed in rap. Amerikka’s Most Wanted and Death Certificate are so devastating because Cube delivers his hood tales as his experience. Not saying, Although his last 5 albums were pretty horrible, his earlier work is not to be ignored!

5:
Nasir Jones
Nas burst onto the hip-hop scene in 1994 with perhaps the greatest rap album of all time 'illmatic.' Although only just over half an hour long, the raw and intelligent street poetry combined with the subtle yet vibrant production from some of New York's best producers' has left the album for ever engraved on the memories of hip-hop fans. Since then Nas career may have fluctuated somewhat, with subsequent albums not living up to his debut, but it is safe to say that since the turn of the millenium Nas has consolidated his position at the top of the hip-hop pyramid and as one of the greatest rappers of all time

Nas is the poet of true age, holding back nothing and rapping about everything. Even in a controversial battle against Jay-Z, he rose victorious overall. Nas needs no more introductions; he is one of the biggest contributors to modern-day hip-hop and a trademark rapper of the century, and that’s with one album alone.
He has great flows, rhymes, and the best lyrics I've ever consistantly heard from an artist. They are genuinely poetic and thought provoking, yet you can always understand him and the thoughts he's trying to convey. He has better versatality than any other rapper I've seen, and can use his raps to embody any type of emotion or thought.

4:
Eminem
Eminem is one of the most original rappers I've ever seen . He has the best vocal skills and quickness I've ever seen in a rapper, great rhymes, freestyling skills, charisma,, and definently uses emotion to fuel his lyrics
Marshall Bruce Mathers III (born October 17, 1972), better known by his stage name Eminem, is an American rapper, record producer, and actor. Eminem quickly gained popularity in 1999 with his major-label debut album, The Slim Shady LP, which won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. The following album, The Marshall Mathers LP, became the fastest-selling solo album in United States history. It brought Eminem increased popularity, including his own record label, Shady Records, and brought his group project, D12, to mainstream recognition.

He was spotted by rapper/producer Dr. Dre, who turned the Detroit native into a star. Eminems first appeared on the mainstream rap scene with the hit single My Name Is and was instantly turned into a star. His first major release, The Slim Shady LP is one of the most successful rap albums in recent history, but was topped by his own 2nd album, The Marshall Mathers LP. Eminem has totally changed his style over to appeal to an even wider audience. But rap fans simply can’t forget his golden days when he was at the top of the rap game.
He's one of the few rappers around today that makes songs that are not about money and parties and are still sucessful with the mainstream

3:
Notorious B.I.G

Even with only two albums released before his sudden death, he is noted to be one of the most influential rappers in history.

Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. Biggie Smalls He was raised in the poor Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant as the son of a preschool teacher. Dropping out of high school at the age of seventeen
When Wallace released his debut album Ready to Die in 1994, he became a central figure in the East Coast hip-hop scene and increased New York's visibility at a time when West Coast artists were more common in the mainstream. The following year, Wallace led his childhood friends to chart success through his protégé group, Junior M.A.F.I.A.. While recording his second album, Wallace was heavily involved in the East Coast/West Coast hip-hop feud, dominating the scene at the time.
On March 9, 1997, Wallace was killed by an unknown assailant in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles.

When you came up on stage and mess with him, he belts out poisonous single-line verses that would put Luda to shame. He would beat it out as if he wrote it before you even met, attaching simple words into a complex and witty verse no human can come up with in an hour, let alone in spur of the moment. For sure, Biggie left an indelible mark on the game. But is he really deserving of the title Greatest of All-Time? The answer is a no. Life After Death was a good album but it’s not the classic that everyone makes it out to be. Clearly, Diddy was already starting to corrupt Biggie’s gritty sound with chart-friendly R&B hooks, and this would’ve continued if Biggie had been fortunate enough to survive that shooting. Biggie brought such a deep level of cinematic detail to his rhymes that you couldn’t help but become hypnotized. That said, he was also more willing than any other MC of his era to kick party rhymes to the masses. Diddy might not have invented the remix, but in the form of Biggie Smalls, he invented the million-selling hardcore rap crossover

2:
RAKIM
You might suprisesd and think whats Rakim doing in second place surely the battle was between Tupac and Biggie. Wrong guys..Rakim is widely regarded as one of the most influential and most skilled mc's of all time due to his exceptional flow and complex lyrical craftsmanship. Eric B. & Rakim's classic album Paid In Full was named the greatest hip hop album of all time by MTV.
In addition to his career as a rap artist, he is a writer, and poet. Rakim's rapping, which pioneered the use of internal rhymes in hip hop, set a higher standard of lyricism in the genre and served as a template for future rappers. Rakim began his career as a emcee for part of one of the most important rap duos of the golden age hip hop era: Eric B. & Rakim.

People might say Tupac was the rapper that turned the whole game around, which is true to a certain extent. But while Pac made some changes to rap, Rakim revolutionized the game. He took hip-hop to another level.. Paid In Full. The album that changed it all. This album was 5-10 years ahead of its time when it dropped late in the 80’s. Although Rakim hasn’t gotten nearly as much respect as he deserves from the average rap fans, people who truly know the game realize what Rakim did for it. This guy wasn’t just years ahead of his time, he was light years ahead of it. He made the advanced lyrical genre of music we all know and love what it is currently, only without that J-Kwon and Chingy crap. He has been one of the most influential people in all kinds of music in recent history, and although most rap fans might state that Pac is untouchable on the list of the greatest, you just make sure to tell them what you’ve learned today. Rakim is hands down the greatest rhymer to ever touch the mic.

Rakim’s smooth delivery and lyrics made him one of the founders of the Hip-Hop genre.  He was a pioneer and took MCs to another level.  Social consciousness and the ability to rock the mic make him a Legend amongst Legends.  Although he has always been more of an underground artist, rappers still site him as one of the most influential rap artists of all-time.  Kool Mo Dee, MTV and Vibe Magazine list him as the greatest Rapper of All-Time.

1:
Tupac
Tupac Amaru Shakur (June 16, 1971 – September 13, 1996), known by his stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, was an American rapper. Shakur has sold over 75 million albums worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world. In the United States alone he has sold 37.5 million records. Rolling Stone Magazine named him the 86th Greatest Artist of All Time
In September 1996, Shakur was shot four times in the Las Vegas. He was taken to the University Medical Center, where he died of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest
More albums have been released and gone platinum after his death, than when he was alive. Through his words, you can hear his spirit and his passion for both his people and the direction they were headed. People of all colors respond to his music becomes he teaches hope.

Tupac gave the west coast the respect that it still has today. He gave rap the status that it has today; he was one of the main reasons that it became such a huge industry. His rhymes weren’t just about jewelry and women, they touched on nearly all objects from teen pregnancy to just having love for your mama.

He is the biggest icon in rap history. He is the epitome of all rap artists. He is the most widely respected rapper, possibly even musician, in the last 20 years. And yes, I am talking about Tupac Shakur. Tupac was simply phenomenal; there was no other rapper who could even come close to releasing the amount of brilliant work this man did. Although his life was tragically cut short, Pac is widely considered the best ever in his profession. He is still selling albums even after his demise, and even has whole new albums with his name on them being sold. This is just simply unheard of, nobody could still have new material being released and sold over 5 years after his or her death. Nobody except Tupac. Pac wasn’t just another rapper; he was at a whole different level than other MCs. Representing California to the fullest over the course of his life
Most rappers nowadays would be heard saying that 2Pac has had a big influence in their careers, eve n if he has been viewed as a public menace. Whether you believe in the Man or the Myth, Tupac’s status has gone beyond iconic to legendary

To Keep this blog running, I will need much help as possible. So every little help counts
